I GOT IT!!!

I am bouncing off the walls right now!  Just a couple hours ago I bought my new computer.  My life has been saved.  I feel so Sim-deprived.  Unfortunately, my computer does not have internet so I have to transport my cc from my laptop (which has internet) to my new desktop... but it's worth it!

It may be a while until I post, I'm not really sure.  I have a lot of catching up to do.  Right now I am currently installing Late Night and then I'll only have two more EP/SP's to go!  Another "unfortunately" is that I am not able to install Ambitions because one of my friends is using it so hopefully that doesn't change my game too much.  Also, because I don't have internet on my new computer I don't have my game updated to the latest patch which I also hope doesn't affect anything.  Whatever, I'm just excited that I can finally play SIMS!!!  FINALLY!

I hope you guys are just as excited as I am.  Now I have A LOT of work to do installing all my custom content via flashdrive and such.  This may take a while but it feels so good to be back!

  2. @Tara - I know right? Unfortunately, while installing my games I ran into a problem but this time it's game related, not computer related, so it should be easy to fix! I can't wait for the next post either. :D

  3. AHHHHHHH! (That's about all I can manage at this point!)

I'm so glad you got your new computer, and I definitely can't wait for the conclusion of the next post!

I'm right there with you being happy to be able to play Sims - I think I would die without it.

    :D

  4. @Destiny - I'm so excited, at least, I was excited. Now I'm kind of bummed because my games are having some issues where I can't get the launcher to work. I've posted on a forum so some people are trying to help me but I think the main problem is that I'm not connected to the internet on my new computer so hopefully when I do that it will work.

  5. I use a workaround for that ('cause the launder is a pain in the backside to load), if you want to load your game. I don't know if it could work for you, but it works for me.

If you go to Program Files>Electronic Arts, there's all the EA games you have. Now if you go into the "newest" EP/SP file that was released (in my case, Generations), there's a file labeled game and then bin. Inside that file is is a .exe type file named TS3[insert appropriate EP/SP number here].

You can copy that to your desktop, double click that and it should launch the game. I have no clue if that's helpful (I suck with explaining) but anyways, I tried.

    :)

  6. If the computer is brand new... Hmmm. Are you sure sims is compatible with the new PC? I have no clue what the system requirements are, so maybe you could also check into that. >.>

  7. I'm 99% sure that it's not the computer because my new computer is more than twice the power of my laptop that I had previously been playing sims on. I really hope it's not the computer.

Here, I'll explain my problem from the beginning:

When I got my new computer set up I started installing the Sims 3 base game. I checked to see if it would work and it did. So then I installed all of my EP/SP's (I have all of them except for townlife and I own Ambitions but a friend is borrowing it at the moment).

So the most recent game I had installed was Generations. I opened the launcher and hit play but all it did was give me the swirling "wait" mouse icon. So I waited and it did nothing. Then I tried to exit the launcher but that didn't work and it started not responding so I had to force it closed (that's what happens every time I try to close the launcher).

After that, I uninstalled all of the games (boo hoo).

Then I re-installed the base game and checked to see if it work. It did so I installed generations and checked to see if it worked and it did.

Then I installed Late Night and checked to see if it worked. Sadly, it did not work and it did that freezing thing. So then I uninstalled LN and checked to see if my game would work. It didn't. Then I uninstalled Generations and checked to see if just the base game would work and it didn't.

After this, I really didn't want to uninstall the game again so I posted my problem on a forum on the Sims 3 site.

And right now, I'm sulking about how terrible I feel.

Later, I am going to try to install the games (again...) while connected to the internet because all those other times I didn't have an internet connection so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that's the solution to my problem. My new computer doesn't come with wi-fi so I'll have to wire it up. That way, I'll have the latest patch because, of course, when I was installing the games earlier, the most recent patch was the one that comes with Generations and that is already old now.

Sorry if this is so long and confusing. D:

  8. Hmmm... (I do that a lot). First off, viva to the power PC's have!

That swirling wait icon is exactly what I got (that's why I have to use the workaround), and I get it even WITH internet. I haven't tried to see if it's been functioning yet or not.

To be honest, I haven't heard of the game giving anyone that much trouble. Jeez, will EA ever fix their games? And another to be honest, furthermore I dunno how to help you. :(

Though I can point out the new patch (1.24) is HUGE (for those with limited bandwidth, like me). And so far, I haven't seen any changes that it's made. Apparently WA is still giving problems.

Don't worry, I love wall of texts, even though they take forever to type out.

    :D

  11. Im so jealous that you will be able to play the sims! I am still waiting for EA to release any kind of update that will enable Mac users who upgraded to the new operating system to play… Crossing my fingers for you!

  12. @Destiny - I hope my problem is easily fixed like yours. Although, the cynic in my is saying it's not going to work. I really want it too!!! Thank you so much for the help though. It makes me feel A LOT better.

    @Melleasha - Yay! Me too!

    @Cassie - EEEKK! I hope I can too.

@Catherine - Thanks, I hope EA makes a game update to help Mac users too. I'm crossing my fingers for you too!

  13. @Destiny - Just in case you check back here I want you to know that I was looking in the wrong Sims 3 folder the entire time (DUH! I was looking in 'my documents' instead of 'Program Files' because I didn't even know that that folder existed!).

I feel very dumb right now. Gosh, all this and it's so embarrassing. *blush* Well, I feel really relieved right now. Right now I am currently installing all my games again. Hopefully I can get everything up and running!

  14. I check back here ever chance I get... I feel like a stalker. O.o Damn you google chrome for making that shortcut.

Don't worry, it happens to all of us ever now and then. Fingers crossed that it'll be fixed!

  15. Same with me with your blog! I feel like a creep too. Is it weird that I like to read other peoples' comments and the replies that they get.

Oh my gosh, I got it to work!!!! And the even weirder part is that the launcher is working now but I'm sure that was just one of my dumb mistakes. I feel so happy now! :D

All I have to do is get Ambitions from me friend (again, she is borrowing it from me) and I'll be set to put in Calista's save that I have not lost (fortunately). I'm so excited!!!! Another thing is that since my computer is new, it's really, really fast! My laptop was super slow. It got really slow once the problems started and I really mean it when it was slow. Gosh, I'm so happy!!!

  16. Not at all...or maybe it is. :) I like to do exactly the same. I don't think it's worth going into the psychiatric ward though.

    :D

I've said it before, and I'll say it again; AHHHHH! That's super duper awesome that it's working!

Yeah, that's always the case - a computer is always so fast when it's new. That was the case when my PC got repaired. Then you install more than, say, six games...

Anyways, I'm so happy too! This is turning out to be a great day. >:D
