Baby 81: Part 2 of 2 - Loss and Love

ISABELLA'S POINT OF VIEW

Liam and I set out on our adventure as soon as I'm ready.  I was tempted to waste more time but had I done that, Liam would have had a cow.  He is as excited as a jittery chipmunk and I swear his pulse is too high for him to be alive right now.  Yet he is, bouncing around me as we walk to the humane society.  Yes, we are getting a new cat.  My twin, Ash, is busy cleaning up the trash.  My nose twitches up as I thank the lord that I am not in his position.

After constant indecision and much walking back and forth between the cages and cages of cats, we finally decide to get a female.  It takes another hour to figure out which female out of the hundreds that are there.  I feel so bad for all of these homeless strays and wish we could adopt them all.  Anyway, Liam seems pretty happy with our choice and I hope mom is too.  Alex is the first person we see as we walk into the house.

"Kitty!!"  He screeches.  The high pitched noise that came out of Alex's mouth is what causes out new cat to jump out of Liam's sweaty grasp and run to the back of the house.  After dropping Alex off with his sisters, Liam and I go to find Aquamarine.

CALISTA'S POINT OF VIEW

Ahh, the joys of pregnancy.  Finally, the constant vomiting and cravings are over.  Granted, I still get cramps but those are always going on so I've pretty much become immune to them and never feel the normal cramps.

As I'm cleaning myself up in the bathroom a foreign cat comes rushing in.  She immediately spots the litter box and instantly uses it.  It's as if she's been so scared she just needed to go.  And I mean go.

My privacy is invaded once again as Liam enters the bathroom.  He is panting but there's a look of excitement on his face.  His eyes light up as he spots the cat.

Izzi soon joins the bathroom party and she and Liam glance back from me to the cat, and back again.

"So, what do you think of her?"  Izzi asks expectantly.

"Oh, she's gorgeous.  A bit jumpy but as soon as she gets used to the house and us, I'm sure she'll be friendly and calm as the other cats," I reply.

Aquamarine, as I soon find out is her name, is a beautiful black cat with splotches of color.  She looks a lot like an artist's palette except for those spectacular blue eyes.

After a short time, she is adjusted to the household and the other cats take to her well.

Brite is the exception.  He seems to know that she is his girlfriend and has upgraded his status to "in a relationship."  The pair are inseparable and I suspect kittens in the future.

One night, I decide to paint.  Luke comes into the room carrying his look-alike, Sindy.

As if he is a magnet, the other two triplets come into the room bringing in their toys.  Alex sets the mood of the room by playing an abstract version of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."  I overhear a conversation between Sindy and Luke as Luke teaches Sindy to talk.

"Daddy?"  Sindy asks.  "Are you my real daddy?"

I peek over my shoulder as I see Luke's face in a distorted and puzzled look.  I silently laugh to myself.  I force myself to continue my painting as I await the answer to Sindy's question.

"Well sweetie, you have a biological daddy who is your birth daddy.  Then there's me and I'm your real daddy."

"Why are you my real daddy and my birth daddy isn't?"  It's impressive to me to hear Sindy's questions.  They're full of depth and she actually pays attention to what Luke says.

"I'm your real daddy because I take care of you, I teach you things, and I love you so much.  Your birth daddy loves you too but not as much as me."

Sindy still looks at him strangely but she seems satisfied with her answer.  I'm impressed, Luke handled that so well.

Later, Liam comes in and paints beside me.  After about ten minutes, the teens come in and amp up the music with their piano skills.

As if missing out on the party, the cats filter into the room as well.  It's definitely a fun time, everyone in the household is there.  It's an amazing feeling of togetherness and bonding time.
It's rare that we have nights like like that and so we all relish the time we have together.

I am nearing the end of my pregnancy and I find Aquamarine staring at one of the ever-so-popular vampire gnomes.  I've never been a big fan of them but the kids have searching for them so we let them stay.

As soon as she sees me, Aquamarine comes up and rubs against my feet.  Her fur is silky and long.  It's a good thing she has so many willing hands to tend to her luxurious coat.

Picking her up, I feel her stomach bulging out a bit and call Luke in.

"Do you suppose she's pregnant?"  I ask.

"Hmmm," Luke juggles Aquamarine in one hand.  She's become so tolerant of the kids that she doesn't even lift a paw as she bounces up and down in Luke's strong grasp.  "I'll say she is, judging by the fact that she and Brite have gotten exceptionally close."  Luke winks at me and I roll my eyes at him, something I've been doing a lot lately.  We laugh and share a quiet moment with the cats.  My bladder calls out to me which causes our intimate time to end.

It's the day of my due date and I spent it watching the many drama movies that have accumulated over the years.

It's a well known fact that they make me cry every time but I love them so much.  It's during Atonement that my water breaks and I go into labor.

I give birth to a baby boy, which Luke and I had agreed to name, Harrison Braden Smith.

FAMILY UPDATE

Cyan married one of his fellow colleagues, the tenth grade biology teacher, Isla Dyar.  She may not look like a teacher but she's one of the very best in the school.

Together, they had the triplets, Maylie, Calla, and Serena and of course, they're all excellent biology students, spitting facts out as fast as Liam can count to 100 in Greek.

Coincidentally, Spring married one of her colleagues also.  His name is Landon Salines.

They had twins, Lorelei and Everett.

Yay!  Thank you Megs and Sarah Goodfellow for all of those names!!!!  They came in handy and helped me so much!

Baby 81: Part 1 of 2 - Loss and Love

NOTE

This post has a few more, er, sexual themes than usual.  After reading a few of the comments, I decided to post this notice.  It's not too bad but I just thought I'd let you know.

CALISTA'S POINT OF VIEW

Cyan and Spring are already ready to move out.  It seems like it was just yesterday that they came into this family.  Now they're young adults, ready to make it in the world.   Cyan is working at becoming a high school teacher and Spring is working on her law degree.

Ash has that naturally cute smile.  He complains a lot about how much his ears stick out but I think he's just trying to suck up to his twin.

Izzi is a bit annoyed at this picture.  She says claims that she "wasn't ready" when I took the picture.  But I think she's gorgeous even with her frumpy expression.

Liam is still super cute!  His hair gets brighter and bluer every day and his brain grows in knowledge exponentially.  He constantly throws out random facts into our everyday lives, which bugs his older siblings to no end.  I, on the other hand, think it's wonderful that he's so smart.  He will definitely be a good influence for his three younger siblings.

Speaking of the triplets, they age up too.  Mei definitely takes after her dad.  She has tanned skin, red hair, and his dark reddish-brown eyes.  She also seems to have his facial features, the most distinguished being his nose.  Who knew Gladstone had that head of bright red hair?  That never would have been my first guess, especially with those dark eyebrows.

Sindy has glossy red hair just as her sister does.  She has my blue eyes and those puckered little lips that stick out when she whines (which is almost all the time).

Alex only has his father's purplish skin tone.  Of course, my hair has to come into play during every pregnancy.  His green eyes come from my father.  Sadly, no matter how hard I try to let his hair grow out, it hasn't.  Only fuzz comes in that's uneven on both sides.  Hopefully it'll come in within a matter of time.

After we have the moving affairs out of the way, Midnight starts to howl.  It is the saddest sound I have ever heard.  Luke and I sleep in the kids' rooms and we give Midnight out bedroom until we can take her to the hospital tomorrow.

The next morning, Luke rubs my shoulder to wake me up.

"We were too late," is all he says and as my eyes start to well up, he grabs me around the shoulder, I hug him around the waist, and we cry together.  At least she's out of pain, I think and it makes me feel a bit better.

For our peace of mind, we have her cremated and place the jar in the office.  The inscription on the urn says, "Midnight, who shone brighter than the brightest star.  We love you."
After an entire day of mourning and moping around the house, I put the little toddlers to bed.  Sadly, they don't quite understand where Midnight is.  It's okay though, they'll knew when they're older.  Their sweet faces are filled with innocence as I look upon their rising chests and silent breathing.

Bryn Windfield is the father of my next child.  He has the pale blue skin and blond bluish-green hair.

The next morning is also a time of loss.  Fortunately, this is the happy kind.
"Ready guys?"  I face my menagerie of cats as they sit on the couch, awaiting their new owners.

Their new owners are all challenge mothers.  The first mother is Skye Everard.  She has the brightest turquoise hair, the most striking purple eyes, and an amazingly small figure.

"Here's your kitty," I say as I hand her Isis, the first of her siblings to be adopted.  Only three left.

Next is my old friend, Destiny Rose.  I grab Aura out of the trio and hand her the kitty.

"Hehe, maybe you can give her an anti-again potion too," I tease Destiny.  She laughs with me and leaves shortly afterward.  With only two cats, I'm already down to half.

Later in the afternoon, Becks Best comes over.  She has the most beautiful honeybee eyes like liquid gold.

I hand her Tapestry and just as she leaves, the last challenge mother, Liana Masons, comes over.
I look down at Illusion.

"Ready to go buddy?"  He meows in response and gazes up at me with his strange multi-colored eyes.

"Hey Liana!  How are you?"  We exchange the usual greetings and then I silently pick up Illusion, the last of the litter of kittens.

"Now you be a good boy, 'kay?"  He licks my face and I hug him tightly to me.  After a moments embrace, I hand him over to his new mother.  "Take good care of him," I tell Liana, fighting back tears.

As if I haven't already said good-bye, I walk Liana out and wave good-bye to my friends once more.  She turns around and lifted on of Illusions pretty paws, moving it in a waving gesture.  I smile and she and I turn out separate ways.

As I walk in, Alex and Mei are hanging out with the last "kitten" of the litter, Brite.  He's the one I'm keeping.

"Kitties gone?"  Alex says as Brite stares intently up at me.  It's as if he understands why his brothers and sisters are gone.

"Yes, they've all been adopted.  But we're keeping Britey," I add.

Sindy comes totting over and I pick her up.  Time for bed time little ones," I announce and I hear an unenthusiastic whine come from the crowd of three.

Finally, the kids are in bed.  I quietly close the door to their bedroom and creep into the master suite where Luke is.

"I... just... so many things happened this week, Luke," the emotions that I was holding strong are now coming out.  I hold onto my boyfriend's muscular chest as he pats my hands and kisses my arm.

We go to bed but not before noticing Midnight in her favorite bed.  I sigh and snuggle up to Luke.  Everything is just as it should be.

The next morning I wake up fresh as a daisy and as I peer at the clock next to me I realize it's only four in the morning.  I curse the hormones for waking me up so early and attempt to fail at going back to sleep.  Quietly, I lift the covers off of me and Luke stirs.

"Did I wake you up?"  I apologize.

"No, I wanted to wake up," he says.  "Besides, now we can spend some time together, just you and me."

I just keep looking at Luke's face.  It's so perfect and he just woke up!

"Um...," I stall.  "Just a second, I need to go wash up."

"Take your time sweetheart."  He proceeds to close his eyes and just rests there waiting for me.

"Okay, I'm back," I announce as I pounce onto the bed.

"So, how are you feeling?" Luke asks, concerned.  It's so sweet of him to care about my feelings.

"Still a bit sad," I say with all honesty.

He takes my hand and kisses it with light, feathery touches.  It tickles and I giggle like a high school girl.  Then I yawn and he wraps his strong arms around me.  Ahh, this is nice.
"We wouldn't want that, would we now?" Luke finally says.  I feel content just laying there in the morning sun but Luke has other things on his mind.

I don't realize it until he leans over briefly and touches his lips to mine.  This is fine until he rests his hand on my hip.  I'm a bit surprised at first but the emotions coursing through me are strong right now.

He somehow flips me over and is on top of me.  His lips are still locked on mine and I've somehow gotten my arms around him this time.

"Luke, I'm pregnant, shouldn't we refrain from making love until the baby's born?"  I attempt to say, but his lips have captured my words and I know I want this.

"You jerk," I whisper, and we're under the covers ten seconds later.

After our, er, love making, I hear a wail coming from the play room.  I look over at the clock and realize that it's already 5:55.  I get my clothes back on and Luke his pants but he stops me from getting up.

"The older kids got the toddlers up, they can take care of them."  I agree with his theory and we continue to make out until I hear the door open.

Little Sindy comes in and howls her heart out.  Sighing, I tell Luke that I'll take care of her.
"What's the matter sweets?"  I ask Sindy.

"I playing all alone," she squeaks.

"Ohhh, do you want mommy or daddy to play with you?"
She nods, the tears disappearing off of her puffy cheeks.  I nearly drop her when I feel hands around my waist.  It takes my brain a while to realize that it's Luke.

"God Luke, you scared the bejeebers our of me."  Turning to Sindy, "Silly daddy!"  She giggles and Luke, Sindy, and I share a sweet moment of silence.

Later that night, I'm still watching out for Sindy's well-being.  She always seems to enjoy the company of adults or older kids, as opposed to her triplet siblings.

"Good night sweetie.  We had a fun day playing, didn't we?"  I kiss her small forehead and squeeze one of her puffy bunny ears.

Luke comes in as I'm about to sit down.  "I have it from here, you go and rest," he whispers.  I kiss him on the cheek and he sits quietly, rocking Sindy to sleep.

I know it's probably not the best thing to keep having sex while you're pregnant but I put on one of my lacy contraptions that Laura made me buy a while ago as a reward for Luke's great parenting skills.  He really has helped so much.

He walks in shortly after I get finished changing and if he's surprised, he doesn't look it because he just scoops me up in his arms and half carries me to the bed.

We kiss as he carries me and he becomes so overwhelmed that we don't even make it to the bed.  Which is fine by me.

The next morning, I wake up at my usual time of 6:30.  Luke tries to tempt me into the bed but I just punch him in the abdomen.

Rolling my eyes, I lecture him, "Luke, you were able to sway me once and perhaps twice but not for a third time.  Until this baby is out of me, no more."

He gazes at my with those lovely eyes of me.  I almost change my mind but I clear my thoughts and just peck him hard on the mouth.

"That's all you're getting, lover boy."  And I walk out of the room.

ISABELLA'S POINT OF VIEW

As I am changing into my clothes, a knock sounds at my door.

"Just a second!" I holler.

"What is it bro?" I ask, once I realize that it's my insanely smart half-brother, Liam.

"Can we do it today?  Can we go and get it?!" He asks excitedly.

I mutter to myself but am also excited.  "Haha, of course.  Just let me finish getting ready."

"Yay!"  He exclaims as he rushes out of the hallway.  I hear him reciting the letters of Pi as he waits for me to get ready.

Yay!  I'm so happy to get this out!  Thank you Addy McKnight for letting me use her sims, Bryn Windfield, as the challenge father.  For those of you whose Sims appeared in my blog, thank you for letting me use them!  I hope I can get part two out within the next two weeks (cross your fingers folks!).

And while you're at it, please leave a comment or two.  I love getting them!  <3  Thanks for reading!!
