Final decision?

Hey guys!

Soooo.... I think I've finally come to a conclusion in my decision about how to fix my game.  I'm going to buy a new computer.

I know, it seems kind of stupid to buy a computer just for a game but I love Sims, my laptop isn't that new (almost two years now), and I love writing this challenge.

Plus, it's now like I'm going to just throw my laptop away or anything.  I will use my new computer just for playing the game and I'll use my laptop for everything else: school stuff, blogging, reading other blogs, internet, etc.

I'm getting really excited but it'll probably (most likely) be a while until I get that computer because I have to research the best price with the best qualities.  I don't want to waste my money on a really sucky computer or buy a cheapo one that doesn't work.  Again, I am so excited to have finally made my decision.

The reason I am buying a new computer is because I have looked up my problem on various computer and Sims 3 forums and most of them agree that the one way is to buy a new computer.  Otherwise I'd have to spend a lot of money to fix my computer and even that might not fix the problem.  Also, laptops don't have as long of a life, they can't play games as well, and they are expensive/difficult to upgrade and fix.  Some problems are beyond repair.

Please stick with me, I will not give up on this challenge.  I'll just have a lot of fun writing random posts, maybe asking a few random questions, and shopping for a new computer!  Believe me, I cannot wait!

So here's one question I've been wanting to ask for a while (it's now much but it'll have to do):

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

QUESTION #1

What have you done with your old Sims games (1 and 2)?  Have you gotten rid of them, do you still play them, etc.?

My Answer:

I haven't given them away or thrown them away.  Right now they are currently sitting in the back of my shelving systems in my room but I don't play them. :(

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Also, please let me know if buying a new computer is a bad idea?  I'll probably still buy one no matter what you tell me but I would just like your opinions so comment away!

P.S. Do you like the new look?  Blue is my absolute favorite color!  I'm sorry if you liked the previous layout (Spring by Adori Graphics) but I needed a new look.  I had had that template for a while, plus I like the way the pages look with this Blogger template.

  1. Ahh! Sadness that it's going to awhile before we see one of your blogs, but good luck getting a new computer! I completely understand buying a computer for the soul purpose of playing The Sims! I've done it! LOL

    I really like your idea about having random posts and questions...and it will be great to still hear from you!

    As far as your questions go...
    My Sims 1 games are boxed up somewhere, but my Sims 2 games are on the shelf right above my computer, staring and heckling me, reminding me of all the money I've spent on this game over the years! I've been playing for almost ten years and I pretty much own every game and expansion pack...because I have a problem! But I'm glad I'm not the only one! LOL

  2. I hope it goes well and you have the sims back soon! Make sure you save the game files and put them back in the game :)

    I still have every single sims 2 game and play it quite often when sims 3 sounds a bit boring ;)
    I didn't play sims 1 and never got the games.
    I did buy sims city, but it didn't install -_-

  3. Cassie - I know, I can't wait to get my computer so I can play again!!! I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who has done this. My friend and I have every Sims 2 expansion pack between the two of us and I have every Sims 3 EP and SP.

    Tara - Thanks, I did save the Smith file so thank goodness for that. I even saved it onto a flash drive so I wouldn't accidentally delete it off of my laptop (At that time I had thought that I would have to take my laptop in to get it fixed). I've installed Sims City before but I didn't really like it as much as the Sims 2 or 3 so I uninstalled it. I didn't play the original Sims either. My friends actually got me started on the Sims but by then the makers had already made the Sims 2 so that's where I started.

    Great to read your comments girls! :D

  4. I think its a great idea to buy a new computer just for playing the Sims, I'm also planning on doing so myself.. So go right ahead.. The computer i plan on buying is a gaming Computer from Dell called Alienware.. It's expensive but its worth it.

  5. Cool, like I mentioned earlier, it's great to know that I'm not the only one who's buying a new computer just for a game. I'd love a gaming computer but I think they're a bit too expensive for me. Maybe if I look I could find a cheap one....

    Thanks for commenting!

  6. Yes, buying a computer sounds good! Like you said in the post, it's not made for games, and you can't really upgrade it.

    As far as the blog goes, I love the new look. Blue is my fav color, next to red and, uhm, lilac. >.>

    And for the question, my Sims 1 is on the top of bookshelf., next to the computers. I haven't touched it again after my dad got his PC fixed (and all the games got uninstalled).
    My Sims 2, to be honest, has been at a "friend's" since 2008.

  7. Forgot to mention I use my laptop for blogging, Facebook and homework, and I have a computer next to it for the sims and drawing. I put then right next to each other lol

  8. Destiny - Thanks, some of my Sims 2 games have been at a "friend's" for quite a while now, in fact, one of my Sims 3 games is at her house too.

    Tara - That's cool! That's what I plan to do once I get a bigger desk! :D

  9. I don't think there is anything wrong with getting a computer to play Sims. I upgraded the RAM, video card, and power supply my old computer so that it could play Sims. Heck, I even bought a PS2 back in the day to play the console version (yeah, that might have been going overboard).

    Regarding The Sims and The Sims 2, I still have the base game and all the expansions for both series. I don't have them installed because I bought a new machine last year and only put TS3 on it. I plan to keep all of my games because I am much a collector as a player.

  10. Snarkysims - That's awesome! I wish I had The Sims! I think it's cool how you're keeping them. I think I've sort of become a collector by default because I don't want to give them away but I never play them (or would you just call me someone who doesn't want to throw anything away, a hoarder perhaps?). Sometimes I just like opening the cupboard and looking at all. :D

  11. I could totally understand why you would buy a new computer to play the Sims. Heck, I hate to admit it, but I would do it if I had to. xD
    I love the new layout. =)

  12. Amanda - Thanks! It's great to know I'm not the only one. I hope your home is okay, with the storms and whatnot and I'm glad you got your internet and power back up. Can't wait to see the new challenge mother!

  13. Here's my answer;

    Getting a new computer is a GREAT idea. At least to me.

    Also my computers cannot play sims 2 or 1 so no I don't play them
